It has been occupied continuously by Buddhist monks and is well preserved. Intricate bas-reliefs surround Angkor Wat on four sides. Each tells a story. The most celebrated of these is the Churning of the Ocean of Milk, which is located on the east wing. In it the Naga serpent, is twisted by demons and gods to spurt out the elixir of life.

For getting around in Vietnam, your dependence on buses and trains might not be very relaxing for you. If discomfort is a very big factor for you, you can consider renting a car; but it will prove to be very expensive. Many cities in Vietnam have motorbike taxis and cyclos that are very convenient. Another option is of taking a metered taxi or a public bus. Preferred mode to explore the country could be hiking or biking from Ha Long Bay in the north, and going across to Hanoi, all the way down to Hao Chi Minh city in the south, crossing the cities of Hue and Ho An. This way, you would be able to enjoy the country in its entirety. For getting around in Vietnam, your dependence on buses and trains might not be very relaxing for you. The official language of Vietnam is Vietnamese. Like Thai and Mandarin, Vietnamese is a tonal language that uses a change in pitch to inflect different meanings, and this can make it difficult for Westerners to master. While it is very different from Western languages, a traveler may be surprised to learn that the basic grammar is pretty simple. Verbs are static regardless of the past or future and parts of speech are pretty straightforward. The major difficulties lay on tones and certain sounds. Vietnamese consists of 4 main dialects: the northern dialect spoken around Hanoi, the north-central dialect spoken around Vinh, the central dialect spoken around Hue, and the southern dialect spoken around Ho Chi Minh City.

Cambodia is a country steeped in history. In spite of years and years of struggle, the country has emerged today as a nation with an infectious spirit seen in its people and a tourism business that is flourishing. Home of the famous Angkor Wat and numerous other temples, this country is intoxicating in its beauty, to say the least. Apart from the historical and the cultural, Cambodia is also urbane, boasting of beautiful Phnom Penh, its capital, and tonnes of restaurants serving delicious cuisine. Cambodia is an amalgamation of the old and the new and a gentle reminder that the two can indeed co-exist and do it graciously. When the sun rises over Angkor Wat, it's easy to understand why the citizens of the ancient city of Angkor considered their leaders to be gods. The rising sun reflects off the massive stone temple complex and the thick green jungle that surrounds it, creating awesome hues of purple and blue and an almost otherworldly glow. It's no wonder that Angkor Wat draws two million visitors every year. But the incredible ancient site isn't the only site worth visiting in Cambodia. In fact, this South East Asian country is so full of wonder, it should go right to the top of your bucket list. Vietnam Cambodia tour packages are increasingly gaining more tourist attraction from many across the world!.

The best way to travel to Cambodia is by flight. The Phnom Penh International Airport connects tourists to the capital city and the Siem Reap International Airport connects tourists to the Angkor temples. The Sihanoukville International Airport only has domestic flights to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. Kampot and Kratie are two places that you have to visit during your time in Cambodia.

While not the strongest link in Southeast Asia's chain of delightful cuisine (due to the Khmer Rouge era, Khmer cuisine were nearly wiped out), Khmer food is filling and cheap. Rice and occasionally noodles are the staples. Unlike in Thailand or Laos, spicy hot food is not the mainstay; black pepper is preferred over chilli peppers, though chillis are usually served on the side. Thai and Vietnamese influences can be noted in Khmer food, although Cambodians love strong sour tastes in their dishes. Prahok, a local fish paste, is common in Khmer cooking and usually takes some getting used to. Kampot pepper is reputed to be the best in the world and accompanies crab at the Kep crab shacks and squid in the restaurants on the Ou Trojak Jet river. Typical Khmer dishes include: Amok - Arguably the most well-known Cambodian dish. A coconut milk curried dish less spicy than those found in Thailand. Amok is usually made with chicken, fish or shrimp, plus some vegetables. It is sometimes served in a hollowed-out coconut with rice on the side. Quite delicious. K'tieu (Kuytheav) - A noodle soup generally served for breakfast. Can be made with pork, beef or seafood. Flavourings are added to the customers taste in the form of lime juice, chili powder, sugar and fish sauce. Somlah Machou Khmae - A sweet and sour soup made with pineapple, tomatoes and fish. Often sold hot and fresh with Khmer noodles ("Nom Banh Chhok") on the streets by women balancing two pots on a stick across their backs for less than $1/serving, complete with bowl and chopsticks

The official language of Cambodia is Khmer. Unlike its Thai, Laotian and Vietnamese neighbors, Khmer is not a tonal language, though its multitude of vowels, dip- and tripthongs make it difficult for the European-trained ear to discern. Despite this, most Cambodians are charmed by any attempt you do make, so pick up a phrasebook and give it a go. There is no universal system of Latinized transcription for Khmer characters, so don't be surprised if you see three different spellings for the same word. Language schools and private language tutors can be found in all larger Cambodian cities for as little as $5/hour.

For getting around in Cambodia, buses are the most convenient mode of transport. You can also consider renting a bike to explore the Khmer Kingdom. A number of domestic flights connect Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. For a journey around the cities, you can take a tuk tuk or remork-motos. Similar to Vietnam, Cyclos and motorcycle taxis are available in Cambodia as well.

The Cambodian riel (KHR) and US dollar (USD) are interchangeable currencies in Cambodia, with riel most commonly used only for small transactions in place of U.S. coins, which are not accepted anywhere. (Though in the countryside, even larger prices are more commonly quoted in riel, as there are fewer U.S. dollars floating about). The Best time to Visit Vietnam and Cambodia starts in the month of November and lasts till April. This is attributed to the fall of temperature and humidity levels across central and northern Vietnam. Rainfall also occurs less frequently in both Vietnam and Cambodia. In the dry season i.e. from November to April, the travel cost is higher than other months reaching its peak during the week-long Vietnamese Tet Festival in late January or early February. If you are looking for a quieter visit to Vietnam and Cambodia, you can travel between May and early October; which is The 'wet season' and witnesses sharp showers. All I asked was a luxury trip and Sahil and Hemanth planned the itinerary according to how i want it. In Singapore we stayed in Parc Sovereign Tyrwhitt which is near to little india, a place where we got our vegetarian Indian food. In Maldives, we stayed in Centara Ras fushi spa and resort which was a very good choice as we felt emotional while leaving the place. We got lot of Vegetarian options there. We had an awesome experience and came back with lot of memories. Thanks to SHS holidays and to Sahil and Hemanth
